My name is Andrew W. Scott, and I am a gaming industry media executive, journalist, and commentator with a long-standing focus on the Asia-Pacific casino and integrated resort sector. My work sits at the intersection of trade journalism, industry analysis, and media leadership, with a particular emphasis on how gaming markets function in practice—commercially, operationally, and under regulatory constraint.
I have spent much of my professional life based in Hong Kong and Macau, two cities that have profoundly shaped my understanding of global gaming. Macau, in particular, has served as a living laboratory for integrated resort development, premium mass evolution, and the realities of operating at scale in a highly scrutinised environment. That proximity has informed not only what I cover, but how I cover it.
Education and Professional Foundations
My academic background combines business and specialised industry study. I hold a Bachelor of Commerce and a Master of Science in International Integrated Resort Management (with Honours). This combination has proven decisive in shaping my approach to gaming media: I view the industry through both a commercial and operational lens, rather than as a collection of isolated news events.
From early on, I was less interested in headline-driven reporting and more focused on structure—how markets are built, how operators allocate capital, how regulation reshapes incentives, and how those forces affect long-term sustainability. That orientation continues to guide my work today.
Entering the Gaming Media Space
I entered the gaming industry from a broader media and communications background. As Asia-Pacific gaming expanded rapidly in the 2000s, it became clear that the sector required specialised, industry-literate media rather than generalist coverage. Gaming is not a consumer trend story; it is a complex ecosystem involving governments, operators, investors, suppliers, and communities.
In 2009, I founded O MEDIA in Macau. The goal was to build a focused media company capable of serving the region’s gaming industry with credible, informed, and consistent coverage. Macau at that time was undergoing profound change, and there was a clear need for a platform that industry professionals would actually read and trust.
Building Inside Asian Gaming (IAG)
Out of that effort grew Inside Asian Gaming (IAG). From the outset, IAG was conceived as a B2B trade platform, not a consumer publication. Our audience has always been industry insiders—operators, regulators, suppliers, analysts, and investors—who require context, continuity, and informed commentary rather than promotional narratives.
My role at IAG has evolved over time, but it has consistently involved editorial leadership and strategic oversight. I am closely involved in setting the publication’s tone and priorities, ensuring that coverage addresses market structure, regulatory signals, operational realities, and strategic direction.
IAG today is not just a website or a magazine. It is a multi-format media brand encompassing written analysis, live content, conferences, and industry events. That evolution reflects my belief that modern trade media must operate across multiple channels while maintaining a coherent editorial identity.
Media Leadership and Industry Integration
My professional path has not been limited to publishing alone. Between 2018 and 2020, I served as Vice President of Marketing & Brand at Melco Resorts & Entertainment. That experience gave me direct, first-hand exposure to the operational and brand challenges faced by integrated resort operators.
Working inside an operator fundamentally sharpened my perspective. It reinforced the importance of realistic timelines, regulatory nuance, and the constraints under which executives actually operate. When I returned to media leadership roles, I brought with me a more grounded appreciation for how decisions are made on the operator side of the table.
Complete Media Group (CMG)
In January 2025, Inside Asian Gaming and CDC Gaming completed a merger under the banner of Complete Media Group (CMG). Following that transaction, I assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer of CMG, while continuing as Vice Chairman and CEO of IAG.
This merger represented a strategic consolidation of complementary media assets across regions. My focus within CMG is on building a scalable, multi-brand gaming media group that integrates journalism, events, and advisory activity while maintaining editorial credibility.
From my perspective, consolidation in trade media only succeeds if it strengthens—not dilutes—trust with the audience. That principle guides how I approach CMG’s growth.
Editorial Philosophy and Approach
My editorial philosophy is straightforward: context matters more than speed.
Gaming markets are shaped by long-term forces—regulation, capital allocation, demographic change—not just quarterly results or headline announcements. My work prioritises:
- Market structure over isolated news
- Operational consequences over speculative commentary
- Strategic intent over surface-level metrics
I avoid sensationalism. Instead, I focus on explaining why developments matter and how they may affect operators, suppliers, and policymakers over time.
Industry Commentary and Public Presence
Beyond publishing, I am regularly involved in industry conferences and forums, including serving as a conference chair and moderator for regulatory and policy-focused events. These roles reflect my position not only as a commentator, but as a convenor—someone who helps structure industry dialogue.
I also appear in video formats, including informal travel-based commentary and interviews, which allow for more conversational insight into market conditions and industry sentiment. These formats complement written analysis by adding immediacy without sacrificing substance.
Scope of Experience
Over several decades, I have visited hundreds of casinos across multiple jurisdictions and maintained ongoing engagement with operators, regulators, and suppliers. That exposure informs my understanding of how different markets evolve—and how lessons from one jurisdiction may or may not translate to another.
While I am sometimes described as a “Macau specialist,” I see my work as inherently Asia-Pacific in scope, with relevance for Australia, Southeast Asia, and emerging integrated resort markets globally.

I see my role in the gaming industry as one of interpretation and structure. My work is not about promotion; it is about helping industry participants understand where markets are heading, what constraints they face, and which signals truly matter.
By combining journalism, executive experience, and media leadership, I aim to contribute to a more informed, more realistic conversation about gaming—one grounded in facts, context, and long-term thinking.
